A whole new ball game!

It has begun, Jake headed off to work this morning, and Mom is being put to new tests! I want to make something very clear up front though. I am so thankful, that Jake was able to stay home with me the first two weeks of maternity leave. I honestly don't know what I would have done without him, and I have a whole new respect for single mothers, or those mothers that have to take care of everything themselves when they have multiple children. That is the one great positive about his job, I may not always like the hours, but for him to be able to be off with me after Jonna's delivery makes up for it.

So, overall a good morning. Jonna was up from about 12:45 to 2am last night, and then headed back to sleep until 4:30am for another feeding. We headed back to bed at about 5am, Jake left for work and as the garage door closed, Ben decided it was time to get up. So, he came back to bed with me, and woke up about 6:45am, in time to change his clothes, eat some breakfast, watch Mickey Mouse Club, and Jonna awoke at 7:30. I fed her as Ben ran around the house finding things and bringing them back to me to show me. Tonight, I already have Jonna's room set up with toys and books for him, so hopefully he will hang out with me in there for 15 minutes while I am incapacitated feeding. I always worry when it gets silent in the house, and I don't know where he is or what he is doing. Did I mention I still pray a LOT?! I think it keeps me sane. We walked down the street to daycare at about 8:30, and Ben didn't really want to let go of my leg! It was difficult leaving, but I honestly know he will have a better and more exciting day at day care than home with Mom.

I keep thinking I need to borrow another couple kids in the evening time, so Ben has someone to play with. It is hard to divide attention between the two of them. But this also reminds me that, in a year's time, they are going to be keeping each other busy, and playing (fighting....) together, which may help.

I went to visit my work yesterday, and everyone loved, loved, loved Jonna. They told me to quit asking questions about work though. I couldn't help it. They also gave me tons of compliments on how well I looked for just having a baby, and any post partum mother knows that is a big boost of confidence to you, especially when some days you look like death run over. Haha. And I am 10 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weitht. Note: I think these last 10 will be much more difficult to lose than last time. Hopefully, once I am healed enought, I can get more exercise on my new bike!

Note on breastfeeding (Day 15): Some times, I feel like, "YES, I am over the hump of inhumane discomfort" then I have an experience like last night again. I won't go into details, but it can be difficult to put mildly. Well, especially when you are half asleep and you want to go back to sleep so bad!

So, all is well in Holee land, and after I get a few things picked up here, I am taking a nap with my daughter!

Two week check-up

She is actually two weeks tomorrow, but I figured since Mom and Dad decided to show up at her doctor appointment a day early, why not post it today too! Haha! Yes, the actual appointment was tomorrow at 7:45 am, but we showed up today at 7:45. Better a day early than a day late, I guess. So, here are the stats: 8lbs, 10oz and 21 inches long. Gained 8oz and grew 3/4 inch in 6 days. I think we are doing something right. She has been a good baby so far! Eatin every three to 3.5 hours, and sometimes every four at night. We have even had a couple five hour breaks. Mom and Dad are both sleep deprived, but I think we are okay. Not sure if it the fact that we were better prepared to lose the sleep, cuz we knew it was coming or we take it easy more during the day. My only worry is that Benjamin has learned in the last week to climb over the rail out of his bed and open, close and lock doors. Yikes. So he has made a habit the last week to wake up three times a night and climb out of bed half asleep looking for Mom or Dad. Most times, he has waken has been when I am feeding Jonna, so who knows how this is going to work out when Jake is working nights. It will just work out, that is what I keep saying anyways. So here are some updated pics of our everchanging beautiful little girl.
Ben was zonked!
This is Ben preparing for the major leagues! We missed the one, where he hit a pop fly, but it did happen!

Happy Early Birthday to me!

What a great birthday! And it isn't really even here yet. It isn't till Tuesday, but Friday night we celebrated with a big dinner at our house with Ethan Schwab(nephew that shares a birthday with me) and the Holees' and Mom and Dad came out too, with brother and sis, Charlie and Katie. Jake smoked some more pork and every one made sides it turned out great. Plus Jonna looked absolutlely adorable in her outfit.

So, have I mentioned before how much I absolutely love my husband. When he does something for me, he does it right!! I have always given him a hard time when it comes to buying specific products big or small, because he is a researcher. It could take a good week before he finds the exact thing he wants.

Well, for over a year, or maybe even since we got married, I have talked about wanting a bike to ride. To go on the Kady Trail or just ride around the neighborhood for exercise. Well, I had an inclination that I was going he was going to get a bike when he talked about what he wanted to spend on my bday present. But then, on Friday morning, I walked into the kitchen after a very long night being up with Jonna, and found him and his Dad trying to hide this box they were wrapping. Come to find out taht was my present. I acted surprised, but then also had a huge disappointment. I wasn't going to get a bike:(. Of course, that didn't fit in the box! So, I proceeded to ask Jake later, "are you sure I am going to LOVE my birthday present?" considering how much he spent on it. In my mind I was very doubtful, and he kept reassuring me. I started thinking he got me something electronic, which he thinks I would love, but really wouldn't.

So, that evening we started opening presents, and as you can see what they were wrapping in the box is on top of my head.

He is so sneaky! But man I love him!

Jonna is one Week old! Benjamin is very protective of his litte sister!

Man! It has only been three days, but I feel like I am so behind!

Yesterday, Jonna had her one week check up. She is 20 and 1/4 inches long (+3/4 inches) and 8lbs 2oz ( + 11oz from when we left the hospital, weighing in at 7lbs 7oz). I think Mom is doing something right!

All is going pretty well. Lots going on, I feel like I spend most of my day feeding her, burping her and changing her, but I would not change that for one minute. NO WAY! She is so beautiful, and still reminds me a ton of her big brother. Feeding is still going all right, I have my moments, but Jonna has been a doll and eating every three hours verses her older brother eating every two hours. Every night home but one, we have had a four hour span between feedings, which is pretty awesome. Jake and I are probably ranging around 6 hours of sleep at night from 9:30 to about 7am. It can be tiring, and I don't know if I expected it to be like this and that has made it easier, or I am just more relaxed with the second one. I have learned to take it easy and nap as much as I can during the day.

And, Jake. Ohhhhh Jake, I can't go on enough about how wonderful he has been and I know it is wearing on him also, but he is there every part of the day for me, whether it be just a short period of us both breathing a big heavy sigh, or running little errands, while I am feeding (I don't know that I will master running around the house while feeding), and also, being a superb Dad to Benjamin and Jonna.

And Benjamin, wow, he really has done great. Jake and I try to focus all the time on him when possible. Jonna doesn't understand much yet, as long as she is fed, changed cuddled, and loved, she is okay. Ben needs much more than that. And when we aren't able to do that, Ben has some trying temper tantrums. He really loves to help with Jonna, whether it be supervising diaper changes, my feedings, and bath times. Or he likes to hold her bottle. In the morning, he is so sweet. He goes straight to her to smile and pat or rub her face softly as he smiles and says, "Joooooonnnnnaaa" in the cutest big brother voice imaginable.

Also Ben's vocabulary has grown quite a bit! He likes to repeat everything that others say to him. And it is too funny. Papa Doug, said the other night. Ben you are a stout kid, and he responded in a firm voice, "STOUT KID". Or my favorite phrase is his "Ohhhhhhhh, Maaaaaaan!" He says this with a little gruff in his voice, which makes me laugh each time. Or "Oh Wellll" with a little southern twang to it. His favorite song right now is this "Peanut Butter song about a railroad track" And he prefers that Papa Doug sings it over and over and over and over and over again. Yes, that was five "overs".

And well, Me, I am doing okay, I have prayed more in the last week than what I have prayed in the last several months probably. I have become very fond of praying the rosary while feeding. It seems to pass the time, and helps with relaxation too. I also forget how I can eat like a 300lb man while BFing. I thought I ate a lot while pregnant. And talk about eating quick. I powered through three amazing Strawberry, cantaloupe crepes, with four pieces of sausage this morning in under ten minutes, I am certain. And water, have to drink the water, at least a gallon a day, and that doesn't seem like an exaggeration.

On the end note: Here are some pics to update!
First family picture of four!

Five Days Old!

Mom finally checking in! I realized after Ben's birth and now Jonna's I never really told much of a birth story! So, to remember the last couple days in the future. They have traveled by in a blur!!

Day 1: Jonna's birthday!
As seen before she was born at 8:44am. From preparation to the end of the day were the most emotional. While on the fetal monitor we listened to Jonna's HR for over an hour and this girl's heart didn't have one irregular beat. So that was the first sign of relief. She was ready! And, I was ready. I had a spinal tap for the anathesia which went very well. I walked right into the OR, IV in tact, and laid up on the operating table. Jake and videographer( uncle Johnny, lucky guy) waited to enter the OR or until I had my spinal tap, and surgery began. For the spinal tap, my doctor stood there holding my hand, and she probably realized how my grip just got tighter and tighter. I never realize how nervous I am till it hits me like a ton of bricks. Jake wallked in a few minutes later, and the tears began to flow. More like happy anxious tears, I wasn't in any pain. It's just all very emotional, and I wish I could say more, but that sums it up. Jake held my hand and within 8 or 9 minutes beginning of procedure we heard Jonna belting out the most beautiful cry in the world. The OR staff, my doctor, Jake, I, and several others had been taking bets on her weight. As soon as the head came out, Dr. Dodson said, "Oh, i might want to take mine back" She was estimated to be much smaller, and she came out a whopping 7 lbs 12 oz! I was so amazed to hear that. No one could really believe it! Her Apgar was great, Vitals wonderful, and Jake carried her over to see me. The happiness and tears begin to well over. She was beautiful, and looked exactly like her big brother with a little more hair.
So, then off to get her bath and Mom needed to be sewed back up. That went very well, the only pains I felt was a strong sharp one in my right shoulder, which the anathesioliogist let me know was referred pain being that my uterus was actually resting outside my body. I just kept taking deep breaths in through my nose and out through my mouth. He also said he was amazed at how stable my blood pressure and HR were. I forgot to mention I had scared him a moment right before the spinal tap went in that my BP dropped to 64 over 36. I told you I was nervous! And light headed puts it mildly.
Anyways, everthing went well, 21 staples later. Off to wait in my room till they could bring me Baby Jonna. From her birth to the first time I got to hold her was probably a good 45 minutes to an hour, but it felt like minutes.

So, that day went by in a blur. She wanted to feed right away! I am breast feeding and it is going better than the first time, but still difficult. I know it will get better though!

From the adrenalin, to the pain meds, meeting our baby girl, and the ULTIMATE relief of knowing she was strong and healthy, the day was crazy. My hormones were out of control, as the hours went by and I sweat my tail end off, asking Jake to keep turning the air down. Jake slept in a sweatshirt that night, and me in my nice hospital gown without covers. And I am not a hot natured person in normalness! Looking back at the first day, I didn't sleep once from 4:30 that morning till 8pm that night. I had several visitors, and it was great to see them, but literally, it is the foggiest thing ever. When I look back it was like everyone I talked to or saw was all in this crazy dream. I really don't even remember who I talked to that day on the phone, so I apologize to anyone if I seemed out of sorts at all.

Ben met her the first time that evening, and it was a little difficult on him, but we know he loves his little sister to say the least. She is here to stay and it is going to take a while for him to get used to that. I am sure I will write more later on that!

The first night went well! Jonna went to the nursery and I fed her every 2 to 2.5 hours. I was not satisfying her so after 40-45 minutes of feeding, we would supplement with an ounce of formula. I really wish I would have done that with Ben, I think it would have been a lot easier. The second day after a good off and on 6 hours of rest, I felt like I was a normal person again.
Back to Jonna, she SMILED at me on her birthday, I do remember that!! And it was the best most wonderful feeling in the world!

(Sorry about the jumbleness of all of this, I just don't want to forget anything)

Day 2: So much better, a little more rested, feeling great really, I was up walking around takin on the world thinkin this is ALLL RIGHT! Feeding went well again, we still supplemented and Jonna just seemed to get more and more beautiful. I had to put some pink on her that day, just because she looked so much like Ben, I needed to girly her up a bit! My IV came out, I got to shower and the day went by quick again. Jake hung out with Ben a lot, and he actually stayed at home with him that night. That night I woke at 11 pm and was in a horrible amount of pain. The nurse who was with me the night before, said, Maria you are nuts! Slow down girl, You had major abdominal surgery and I think you have overdone it. Took a couple pain meds, and that helped so much.

Day 3: Jake came back to stay with me at the hospital, breast feeding was becoming more physically painful and emotionally draining. Hormones were still working overtime, and I was a bit emotional, crying at the littlest of things, but Jake was there to hold me and probably wonder why his wife was so crazy, but he was still there as Superhusband for the support I needed. I missed Ben so much and felt horrible for being away, but after a phone call with my Mom she reassured me Ben was great, loving Papa, and Uncle Charlie, going to the park, and hangin out. Also, eating them out of house and home! MY good little eater!! I almost asked to be let go and go home that night, but looking back it was the best decision to stay another night. Jonna took a 2.5 hour and 4 hour gap between feedings! Heavenly.

Day 4: YAY! We came home! Mom met us at home with Ben an hour later. Jonna was sleeping when he got there, so we put all of our focus on him, giving him a present with cars and airplanes. And also, A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE FRIENDS AND FAMILIES that came to the hospital and bought presents for Ben. You really have no idea how much it helped.
So, a bit later, we asked, "Ben do you want to go see Baby Jonna?!" HE jumped up nodded and walked to the hallway, She is staying in a bassinet in our room and we walked in and he was so happy to see her, that he needed to hold her right away. Now he is great holding her the hard part has become taking her away from him. I think she is going to grow up to be a very patient tolerant little girl! Ben loves to put the binky in her mouth, and tries to feed her brownies. Reassuring him, that she isn't quite ready for that!
We have found that Ben is okay if I hold and take care of Jonna, but isn't too fond when Dad is taking care of her unless he is taking care of her with him. He had a hard time yesterday, which made it a little emotional for Jake and I too, but I just keep praying for GOD to give me strength! And we are doing ok.
Last night, we went for a short walk, and almost everyone of our neighbors came out to congratulate us and check out our new addition. It was just a wonderful welcoming (felt like a movie) feeling. Makes me smile now thinking about it.

THE FIRST NIGHT AT HOME:
She didn't want to go to sleep so, she ended up finally resting with Dad in the recliner at 11pm. I came to get her at about 1:00 and fed her and she went off to sleep at about 2:30 again, and slept till 6am! IT WAS AWESOME!

Also note on breast feeding: I have found that feeding her off one, and me pumping the other has worked out wonderfully. I won't go into to much detail, but it is reassuring to me to say the least.
Fed her again at 6:15, and hung out with Big bro for a while. He loves her so much truly.I just love it! Like I said just trying to ger her away from him has been the problem. We all walked to daycare this morning, so Ben could show off his little sister. Ben cried a little when we left, but I know he is going to be okay.

I took a well needed nap forced upon me by Jake from 7:45-9:45! Thanks HUBBY!
So, Jake is off to pick up Grandma Deena and Papa Doug at the airport, and we will await their arrival. They will stay with us for a week and we can't wait!

WHEWWWWW! DID you catch all that! Hopefully the next journals won't be quite this long!
SOME PICS!
Car Ride Home!

This morning watching TV with BEN! Ben is trying to get her to look at the camera, and then look at the TV to watch Mickey Mouse Club House, OF COURSE!

Update from Dad

Hello everyone, father of two checking in. I guess first of all I need to make the official announcement of Jonna's arrival. She came into this world on July 16th, at 8:44 am. She was 19.5" long and 7 lbs., 12 oz. The whole procedure went wonderful. Things are going well here in the hospital. Its really looking like we won't be going home until tomorrow. For the most part, we are okay with that. I'm really feeling bad for Benjamin though. I took him home last night, but we didn't get home until bed time, so we didn't get to hang out much. We were able to spend a little time together this morning though. After breakfast, we drove to town to visit Mom and Baby Jonna in the hospital. He did pretty good with Jonna again. He really likes to hold her and point out all her body parts! I think he knows that he needs to be gentle with her, but I don't think he's quite capable of being gentle enough! We didn't stay to long, the hospital room is just not big enough for a 2 year old. Then we went to the fire station down the street so he could play in the fire truck for a little bit. Next we went to Grandma and Papa Kusicks house. He really didn't want me to leave him there. I felt so bad for leaving him again. I hope he doesn't get too mad at us for not hanging out with him very much this weekend. Back at the hospital, Jonna got her pictures taken for the nursery website. They said the pictures probably won't be up until tomorrow, but here is the website, Our365. Here are some more amateur pics;

July 16, 2009 Jonna's Birthday!

Good Morning Baby!

Today is it, your birthday. It's 6am, Dad and I are at the hospital. I am hooked up and ready for surgery time at 7:30 am.

As you can imagine, Dad and I didn't get much sleep because we were so anxious and excited to meet you. Grandma K spent the night last night, and is going to take your big brother to daycare this morning. I think he suspected something was up because he decided to wake up quarter to five to join the party as we tried to get ready to go. He wanted his Mom! Poor guy! That made it just a tad more difficult to leave being that I may not be home with him again till this Sunday. But I know he is in great hands.

The last few days before today I think you in your own way knew your birthday was coming. As so many have commented in the last week, "you dropped" I haved had a hard time staying on my feet, and I have had lots of pains around my hips and down low. Even this morning you were rolling around at 3:30 when ususally you are fast asleep.

Jonna, we love you and can't wait to meet you. The nurses keep coming in to do their thing, so I am going to sign off here, and next time I will be writing, you can assume you will be no longer in my belly but in my arms.

I love you and pray God will bless, guide and protect us today.

Dear Jonna:

My sweet, sweet baby, less than 24 hours away and I will be holding you, and admiring how absolutely adorable you are. I want to say ecstatic, but that isn't even close. I want to tell you how wonderful our journey has been together the last 9 and 1/2 months. The first few were a little more tough than my pregnancy with your older brother, but I figured you were just breakin me in. The second trimester was a breeze. We found out right at 20 weeks, you were going to be a girl, and I had predicted it. Around 24 weeks, you tested Dad and I with revealing you had a little abnormality (FETAL PAC's) with your heart. Gave us quite a scare, but realized it was nothing serious, and Dr. Dodson believes you have already grown out of it.

Your Dad, Brother and I have been preparing extra hard for your arrival this week. Ben even tested out your car seat last night by buckling his puppy dog in to make sure it was an okay fit, then he proceeded to carry the carseat to the car to make sure it worked well in there too. Dad has put some final touches on your changing table, which should be set up tonight, and I have been trying to clean the house to make things as germ free as possible.

Our bags are already packed, and I think big Brother is going to get to meet you tomorrow night for the first time. He is gonna be a great big brother and take care of you like no other, even through the teenage years, when Dad won't be around to scare the boys off!

I can't wait to see your face, hold your hand, touch and kiss your cheeks. I wonder if your hair will be dark brown or golden like Benjamin's when he was born. I wonder what you will weigh. They are taking bets today at my work, $.25 a guess, and whoever guesses closest without going over wins!!! It has been quite funny because they have been coming in to feel my belly over and over again.

I can't wait to have everyone meet you. Grandma and Grandpa (Papa) Kusick will be at the hospital for delivery, and Grandma Deena, and Papa Doug will be arriving in four days after your birth. I know everyone is so excited to meet you.

God has blessed your Mom and Dad in so many ways, and we are going to have the most amazing blessings ever in our lives. Ben AND You!!! Miracles are wonderful and God has given me three so far (sorry Mugsy doesn't count). I just want to tell you I love you, and your Dad and I are going to do the best we can to protect you and keep you safe. We will love you so much and do our best as parents that we know how. God will guide and protect us.

Love,

Mom, Dad, and Big Brother Ben

"The day after tomorrow"

As a child I remember using this phrase all the time. It was my way of saying how close an exciting event was going to be here. The easter bunny is coming the day after tomorrow. Santa Claus is coming the day after tomorrow. My birthday party is the day after tomorrow. I get to go on a trip or vacation the day after tomorrow. The weekend is the day after tomorrow. I get to see family or friends the day after tomorrow. I get to go swimming the day after tomorrow. I get to go Trick or Treating the day after tomorrow. The list goes on and on.

When I would use this phrase, I always knew that something exciting was going to happen and it really was just around the corner. It is the next best thing to "tomorrow." And I may be more excited today because I know I have more than 24 hours to get the tons of things I need to get done before the "day after tomorrow" for the arrival of Jonna. Tomorrow, I may be a little more nervous or anxious stressing about last minute things. I have already emailed a reminder list twice to Jake.

So, anyways, We are having our Baby Jonna the day after tomorrow!!

Osage 09

Saturday was another work day for Dad, so Ben and I decided to fill our day with activities to make it go by quicker!! What better than to hang out with some friends on their boat on the river Jesse, Nate, and their two girls Ryann and Sydney!

Ben had never been on a boat yet, so it was pretty exciting for him. He did such a great job of keeping his life jacket on the entire time. He loved the breeze in his face and watching as we passed other boats. We stopped for some swimming on a gravel bar for a bit, and Ben did such a great job even trying to swim by himself some in his life jacket! Mom floated weightlessly sitting on a life jacket. It was superb!!

On our way back down the river, these huge fish kept jumping out of the water behind the boat. For some reason the waves from the motor got them excited, and they were jumping like little dolphins! And they weren't small fish by any means. I would say most were close to two feet long! The kids thought it was the best! Ryann, Syd, and Ben giggled in delight each time, and Jesse, Nate and I were constantly on the look out to make sure if they jumped in the boat to block them from the kids. It would have been a good smack if one hit one of the kids. On our last trip down, low and behold, one monstor jumped in the front of the boat between Ryann and Jesse. They rushed in shrills (Don't blame them) to the back of the boat, and Nathan saved us from the flip-flopping crazy scoundrel, throwing him overboard. Looking back on it, it was hilarious!!! First time for every thing!

That afternoon, we headed back to their house, and the kids took a nap, we relaxed and Jess and Nate fixed a big spaghetti dinner with garlic bread and brownies for dessert. IT WAS EXCELLENT!! Great times. But Mom wore herself out. Had lots of contractions that night and a lot of pulling in my hips that can be very painful. I had to get off my feet asap to make it stop. Jesse described the pains very well, as in when you take a chicken wing and snap it in two. That is kind of what we think it would feel like!

Then Sunday morning, Dad got off work and met us at 11am church, and we visited Grandma and Grandpa for a while. We then headed home and took a 2.5 hour nap. SUPERB! Steak and potatoes for dinner, and visit with some more family at the Schwabs', and then headed home for a good night's rest!

Back to work today, and counting down till Thursday! We are so close!

Ben's 2 Year Check up!

Benjamin had his two year well check up at the doctor today! I can't believe it. Has it really been two years:

Some specifics on our little guy:

THE STATS---30 1/2 lbs, 90% weight
35 and 3/4 inches, 75% height

He is still a good sized boy, takin after Dear Old Dad!

One of his favorite past times has become playing with Mom and Dad on their bed, whether it be pouncing around from one of us to the next or laying beside us to give us hugs and say "HI-eeee" in his sweet little southern cute boy accent.

He loves walks. Ben and I take a walk together every night, and on the nights Jake is home he comes too! Sometimes we start out in the wagon, and he pulls it home halfway, and other nights, he just walks beside us.

He has developed a sweet tooth thanks to Mom and Dad, cookies and icecream are his favorite. He still loves vegetables, but it can be a chore to get him to eat meat.

He has 12 teeth. His four eye teeth are so close to cutting but just not here yet.

He loves to say good morning and good night to his fishies. They like to hide from him, cuz he gets pretty close up sometimes, and then he looks at me saying, "Where did they go?" and when he finds them he says, "There they are!"

He loves Mugsy, our dog. They are best of buds and play and wrestle around all the time.

For the first time last night, Ben showed some understanding of getting a baby sister. After visiting with another newborn and her two older brothers, I asked if he wanted a baby sister too, and he kept nodding his head in yes and smiling.

He still drinks rice milk and loves it. The ENT doc said it was still best to stay away from most dairy if possible. Plus, he drinks so much in a days time. But it is almost always either water or rice milk.

He loves bugs, flies, spiders, birds and well any animal for that matter. He played with a kitty last night, and just kept yelling in delight as the kitty pawed and played him.

If Mom or Dad or anyone says "OUCH!" he askes them if they are okay?

Ben always has us "Come here" coaxing with his hand when he wants to show us something. This happens approximately 198 times a day.

He loves to help cook! Favorite would be making brownies or cookies, cuz he gets to taste test the dough and lick the bowl.

He listens to his Dad better than his Mom! Yes, I wish he listened better to me, but he knows not to cross his Dad. Now, Mom is pretty tough too, but he still can be quite the handful when he presses my buttons.

He has learned to tell Mom and Dad to be "QUIET" pronounced "WIAT" with his finger pointing at us and a scowl on his face. He does this when he doesn't want to do something or is supposed to stop doing something he shouldn't be. Man, it is so hard not to laugh, but he gets in big trouble for this one.

He loves, loves, loves babies. And he is so cute with them, oooooing and aahhhing, and gently rubbing their head or arms. He loves to kiss and hug them, but we try to keep that to a bare minumum because of germs. I think he is going to be an awesome big brother.

His favorite shows are Mickey Mouse Club house, and Handy Manny. He can't sit still for long, but I can get a good 20-30 minutes to myself when I get ready for work in the morning now instead of him sitting on my lap, while apply make up and fix my hair.

He loves fruit! He probably would eat an entire container of strawberries if we let him.

He runs verses walking to destinations. At night, we play, "on your mark, get set, GO!" for a good 15-20 minutes, and I sit out front watching him run back and forth accross the yard.

He loves playing with his cousins. He probalby gets to see Ava the most, and they are quite the pair. If Ava isn't following him, he is following her, and their breakouts in giggles are the best sounds in the world.

He is such a helper, whether sweeping or vacuuming, dusting, folding laundry, watering the flowers or the garden, and picking up his toys. I think he is gonna be a great helper at home with Jonna. I can not wait till she is big enough for them to play together.

Ben loves water. He loves to drink water, splash water, turn on the faucet, spray the hose, swim in his pool, play at a spray park, and run through the sprinkler. Just something amazing about that wet stuff.

Ben still sits or stands on the potty chair to go potty, wipes and flushes, but never actually goes potty. He is always there for moral support to Ava when she is going potty in the potty chair.

Man, this just keeps on going doesn't it. I guess Ben keeps us pretty interested to say the least. He is a pure joy even in the temper tantrum, trialsome times, I still get teary eyed thinking about how much we are in love with our son.

We are very proud of you Benjamin!

Skating Babies

This is great!

One week from today!

I AM HAVING A BABY! We get to meet Jonna for the first time, and the anxiousness can not even be closely described.

Yesterday afternoon, I had a check up. Her Heart Rate was 134, and again, not one irregular beat during the full minute she listened! YES!! Dr. Dodson just laughed as she saw Jonna roll around in my belly. She likes to pop a foot or arm out on my sides from time to time and it does look quite interesting.

I am still dialated a 1 and 50% effaced. So, I am really thinking we will make it to next Thursday. I am still having Braxton Hicks daily and nightly, but nothing irregular. I notice as we get closer some can be a little painful. I get the ones, where they start in the back and then wrap around the front. I have gained one lb in a week. I blame it on the entire chipotle burrito I ate for my birthday day lunch at work! haha.

So, looking at my overall weightgain back to the beginning in November, I had started out at 118, where my normal weight is ususaly 121, but I had lost a few pounds before this pregnancy. So, really my goal will be to get back to 118. Yesterday I weighed in at 142. So, my overall gain has been 24lbs. Which the doctor thinks is great! I have heard it is harder to lose the second time, so we will see.

Anyways, all is well and we are pumped. My bag is packed! I think I need to buy a diaper bag, my humongo purse, just may not cut it. But otherwise, ready or not Jonna is here in a week! YAY!

Babies, babies, and more wonderful Babies!

So, another year of babies to come! So exciting, yes we are having Jonna in , no BD, 8 days! Whoo hooo!, but also, in the next 9 months there are gonna be four other babies born that I know of. In December, Jake's sister, Alyssa will have baby #2, due Dec 27th. Ryan as older brother. Then, a good friend from high school is having her first in December, I think due on the 24th. Another close family member is having a baby in February. I won't mention names yet because, I really don't know if it out in the open yet. And then another close friend, Miranda, is due with #2, brother Landon, on February 15th.

How exciting all of these miracles!! Prayers every night for all of these new babies and their Mamas! It is all so exciting.

And boy, am I anxious to have this baby! I really hope that we get to make it to the planned day really, just so everything goes smoothly, but if she did come early, I would be so happy to see her sooner too! I literally can't wait to see what she looks like! I can't wait to hold her and snuggle her and call her by name face to face. I can't wait to have Ben sit on the bed beside me and hold his little sister. It gives me goosebumps. I can't wait to see Jake hold and kiss Jonna the first time. So much excitement, I want to scream!! Babies are just such wonderful miracles. I can't thank God enough for another experience like this! And it is almost here.

Happy 2nd Birthday Benjamin!

Two years ago, from today, our cute little man became a part of our family. I can't even begin to explain how our lives have changed from that hot 95 degree day, July 6, 2007 at 11am.

Our sweet little boy!

Then one year after that on July fourth:

And then this year July fourth: Notice the same shirt!

Last year's birthday party:

And to this years birthday party:

This year, a little bit different weather, high of 74 and cloudy. A rare July day, but perfect for the outdoor party! Jake smoked some chickens and pork, and I made several sides! It was all delicious. You probably noticed my mad cake decorating skills also! The day was great all around. Friends and family made it perfect. After everyone had eaten and played, I headed inside to see my spic and span kitchen! MADE MAMA's day! I think it wasy my Mom, friend Jesse, and SIL Crystal that did all the work. I am anal about one thing----ok, maybe more than on---- but this one is cleaning a kitchen right after the meal is finished. I inherited that trait from my Mom. It was utter joy that I felt, knowing once everyone left I could go lay down and take a nap! Thanks guys!

Back to Benjamin, he had so much fun playing with the other kids. I just kept thinking how "big" he was. He blew out his own candles, sat and ate his cake and icecream by himself....with a fork, and even opened up his presents. Notice him shoving his money he got from his Aunts, Great Grandma, and Uncle into his piggy bank. I may not have mentioned before, but if Ben ever sees any money laying around, he knows exactly where it goes...in his piggy bank. That kid is gonna have more money saved than his Mom and Dad some day! He got some new clothes, a children's bible, coloring books, "puff the magic dragon" book. We sang that a few times last night! Mickey Mouse dishes, a stuffed chameleon (which he also slept with last night). Uncle Johnny has a pop up tent on the way! He got flash cards and a tractor book. The tractor book worked very well keeping him occupied while at church Saturday night! And I really hope I didn't forget anything. Oh, he also got some cars. This guy still LOVES cars!

Kind of a bittersweet day for dear old Mom! Time really does go by too fast with these little ones. Ben is gonna be a big brother, and before I know it, we are going to be celebrating Jonna's second birthday!

And last year Ben got a dog for his birthday from Mom and Dad, and this year he got some fish!! We headed out for icecream and the pet store yesterday evening, and brought them home. He was busy enjoying the grapes as you can see also!

This afternoon, we head to his daycare for another small party, which will be just as exciting for him!

I want to take this time also, to just say how proud I am of our little boy. He is going to be such a good kid I know. I am so thankful to God and family for all of our blessings, and days like yesterday at the party, are such good reminders for me.

About 37 weeks

Appointment today went awesome!! Jonna did not have one irregular heart beat througout the entire minute that we listened to her on the Doppler. YAY! I gained 1/2 lb! Right on track! Blood pressure good!

I have had some dizzy spells with shortness of breath the last week. She said I just need to lay down when they occurr, so I don't faint. They are most likely due to circulation reasons, but no bd.

I am 50% effaced, and dialated to a 1. So making some progress, but we are still holding out for the 16th!! MAN! We are so close! Only one more doc visit for certain then we are having a baby!!

Definately have to make through this weekend, because we are celebrating Ben's 2nd birthday on Sunday! Tear, tear! I can't believe it!
